How can I run my business and work at an MNC at the same time or choose business over job

Hey folks!

I was hoping I could ask everybody out there for some advice regarding my situation.

I really want to run my own firm. I was running it successfully (read as making profit and growth) for about two years till very recently. Then, I was strongarmed by my parents into closing all operations because they consulted a numerologist who suggested it was a bad idea for now.

I know that for some of us, this may sound insane. But for me it is a very real and pressing problem. I’ve been forced to take up boring, steady employment in an MNC and my life is… miserable at best.

Does anyone have any ideas how I could tackle this issue? I’m trying to run both the business and maintain employment at the same time but it is not working out.

Yours in Earnest,
Arvindh S.

I responded with:

Please don’t let astrology ruin your life and aspirations. I understand the concerns of your parents. However you need to patiently explain to them that you really love your business, it is profitable and ultimately that is where your heart is. Ultimately they care about you.

Even today many of my relatives don’t understand why we develop software products and do not try the “lucrative” field of software outsourcing where money seems to be flowing like moonshine in Kentucky mountain land!

Get some fellow entrepreneurs from occ to talk to your parents and explain to them the viability of your business and how you can make a comfortable living with it etc. I am sure your nearest occ members will be willing to help you out.

Wish you best of luck!

What is your advice for him?
